Tonight is the night my team will be gathering with 200 other executives at the Covenant House shelter in Hollywood, right next to the 101 Freeway. They will spend a few hours listening to the stories of the young people who call Covenant House “home” and learning about how CH California helps youth move from homelessness to independence. And after that, for one night, they'll get a small glimpse into what it’s like for a youth to be out on the streets.

In LA, there are over 6,000 young people without a safe place to sleep on any given night, and CHC’s waitlist currently stands at 3 months. I can’t imagine what it must be like for these young people, especially as the nights start getting colder. The team is Sleeping Out so that Covenant House California can reach as many homeless youth as possible, meeting their basic needs and then helping them find a path to stable housing through education and employment.
